Day 1

Airport → Anuradhapura

Warm welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport. A 3.5-hour transfer to your hotel in Anuradhapura to rest and settle in.

Day 2

Anuradhapura Ancient City → Mihintale

Explore one of Asia’s oldest cities, thriving from 4th century BC to 10th century AD — temples, stupas, and the sacred Bo tree, the oldest documented tree on earth. Afternoon at Mihintale, cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka since 237 BC.

Day 3

Trincomalee → Koneswaram Temple → Nilaveli Beach

Drive to the east coast — white sand beaches, swaying palms and electric-blue waters rivaling the Maldives. Stop en route at the ancient Hindu temple of Koneswaram, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Day 4

Pigeon Island National Park · Nilaveli Beach

Short boat ride to Pigeon Island to snorkel among turtles, seahorses and colourful fish. Afternoon free at the beach to relax.

Day 5

Polonnaruwa → Optional Ayurveda → Sigiriya

Wander the 10th–13th century ruins of Polonnaruwa — giant Buddha sculptures up to 15m high, royal palace remains and friendly macaques in the jungle. Optional Ayurvedic massage session after the visit.

Day 6

Sigiriya Rock → Minneriya Safari

Climb the 360m Lion Rock fortress — an ancient world wonder with frescoes and a palace at its summit. Afternoon at Minneriya National Park where massive elephant herds gather at the reservoir.

Day 7

Dambulla Golden Temple → Spice Garden → Kandy

The Golden Temple of Dambulla dates to 1st century BC — witness Buddhist pilgrims making flower and incense offerings inside. Then explore a spice garden to learn about cinnamon, pepper, vanilla and their medicinal uses.

Day 8

Kandy — Temple of the Tooth · Vanilla Garden · City walk

Walking day through Kandy’s heart. Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth relic, see how aromatic vanilla is grown on a small farm, then explore the lake, markets and city streets at leisure.

Day 9

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage → Peradeniya Botanical Gardens

Early visit to the world’s largest captive elephant reserve — watch dozens of elephants bathe in the river. Afternoon at Peradeniya’s royal botanical gardens (14th century), a vast orchard of centuries-old trees, orchids and Ayurvedic plants.

Day 10

Ramboda Falls → Tea Factory → Colonial Nuwara Eliya

Wind up through tea plantations to Nuwara Eliya at 2,000m. Pause at Ramboda Falls, tour a working tea factory to see how Ceylon tea is processed, then stroll the Hill Club gardens or enjoy tea at the Grand Hotel.

Day 11

Horton Plains National Park

A full morning hiking the 9km trail across this dramatic highland plateau — see the famous “End of the World” cliff, Baker’s Falls and the enormous Sambar deer in their natural grassland habitat.

Day 12

Scenic train to Ella → Little Adams Peak → Tissamaharama

Board the historic colonial-era train through the tea hills — one of the world’s most beautiful rail journeys. On arrival in Ella, climb Little Adams Peak (30-min hike). Then transfer south to Tissamaharama.

Day 13

Kataragama Temple → Yala National Park Safari

Morning pilgrimage to Kataragama, a sacred temple revered by Sri Lankans of all faiths. Afternoon Yala safari — home to the highest density of leopards on earth, plus elephants, crocodiles, buffalos and black bears.

Day 14

Galle Fort → Unawatuna Beach

Visit the best-preserved colonial fort in Asia — walk under the shade of trees by the sea, explore cafes, the lighthouse and the old town. Afternoon free at the vibrant beach town of Unawatuna.

Day 15

Colombo City Tour → Airport departure

Final morning in Colombo — visit Gangaramaya Temple on Beira Lake, the iconic Red Mosque, and stroll the Galle Face promenade by the sea. Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

  • Relax and enjoy your first evening in Sri Lanka with a welcome dinner.

  • Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
